Berlin Study Abroad Blog

The summer after my junior year, I decided to travel back to the country that influenced so much of my academic journey. This time, through Honors in Berlin, I studied immigrants and education within Germany's capital. During this program I was also able to create a research project based on a topic that I was interested in. I chose to research the affects of supranational organizations of national identity, specifically whether or not it changes feelings towards immigrants. Although my research did not turn out exactly how I expected it to, it was a good lesson to learn: research does not always give you the answers you expect or that you're looking for, but it does not make it invaluable. I also had the opportunity to travel before and after my study abroad, my first time exploring foreign countries completely alone. This experience completely change the way I view myself and my world, and gave me the skills and confidence to explore again in the future.
